Home
December 23, 2012
Do you have smells or even sounds or music that immediately take you back to a memory so strong and so vivid that sometimes it even makes you burst into tears?
I went out for a little last minute shopping and when I walked into the house, BAM! I was back at my mother's house. The smell of beans cooking and the smell of Clorox and white clothes banging away in the washing machine.
I was in the living room safe and warm, sitting on the sofa with my mother, my head in her lap and she cleaning out my ears. I was home.
I found this picture of home. Even though Nene and Baby had already died, this was a happy moment with my mom, her surviving six children (yeah, the six with the Ayala smiles) and three grandchildren.
Sister - Eme, brother - Chacho, me, sister - Boobie, brother - Little, sister - Nena, Mom holding nephew Lexi, Mot and Lina front and center.
Yo Mama
December 23, 2012
Do you remember when I asked Victoria Sofia Siri to call me 'Yo Mama'? (Post here.) Last night I asked her what my name was. She said:
She cracks me up almost as much as I crack me up. She cracked up the Zumbini's over at Adrienne's last night, too. International bunch! Mia - Mexico, Gladys - Nicaragua, Alda - Brazil, me - Mexico, Lupita - Mexico, Pilar - Peru, Josie - Guatemala, Adrienne - China and Sepi - Ethiopia. We're like Miss Universe!
People In My Office
December 17, 2012
Office day today. V at the house. Taught my Monday morning Zumba class at Clayton Valley. My four regulars braved the rain. Thank you, girls! Didn't go to Mia's at UFC. Decided to stay at CVDA and practice some new routines. It was too lonely, though. So I left and came to my office. Big sigh...
Well, my office is always entertaining and you know how easily amused I am. There are several characters who are always here. They spend hours here and only buy one small cup of coffee. It's just a matter of time before we start getting charged.
I was about to bop this guy upside his head.
He finally stopped. When he got up to use the bathroom. Which he does every 20 minutes or so. And stays in there for 10 minutes each time.
I will never use the bathroom in my office.
Feeling Random
December 12, 2012
I felt a blog post coming on but everything I was thinking about was so random. Hence, the title of this post. It has vocals, too, because Feeling Groovy popped into my head as this post's theme music. No, I have not been to Colorado. Why do you ask?
Let's see if I can go with a Top Ten Random Things a la David Letterman, except not backwards.
1. I remembered I forgot to post anything about Thanksgiving. I remembered that because of the chicken hearts and gizzards (see #2). It was a nice quiet little gathering, here. My Little Honey Bunch's parents and the dog, his sister, her hubby and their daughter, and my brother and his wife came. Motsy made a cameo appearance, too. Of course, I have a zillion pictures. They're on my Phanfare Site. E-mail me for password if you no longer have it.
2. I was in Mi Pueblo yesterday and saw these little delicacies. Chicken feet, gizzards and hearts. I remembered that I was robbed at Thanksgiving. The heart and gizzard that came with the turkey were from some other communist bird. Clearly not from a 23 pound turkey. They were teeny tiny and there was only half a gizzard. I was so disappointed because I was so looking forward to having them and not having to fight the dogs for it. Usually, when we have Thanksgiving somewhere else, the dogs get them.
Anyway, I saw these and treated myself, to make up for the disappointment at Thanksgiving. Which reminded me that I didn't post anything about Thanksgiving (see #1). They were delicious! The feet all ligamenty just like I remembered. Sorry if I grossed anybody out!
3. Can you say cray, cray?
I saw the wax lips in CVS and couldn't resist. Used to love them as a kid. Guess I'm still a kid. They reminded me of me in the first two pictures and of course, of Mick.
Yes, I did drive home like that. Yes, people looked at me and laughed. I even got a chuckle out of my Little Honey Bunch when I got home. And, GASP, I think Nic even cracked a smile.
4. I took a bubble bath today (that's my reflection on the shower). I was making myself wedding dresses out of the bubbles. I have no idea why.
5. I happened to look at the clock on 12-12-12 at 12:12. Maybe I should buy a lottery ticket.
6. The clouds were so beautiful today!
7. My family wants to go to Europe this summer. I have been procrastinating on becoming a citizen (for about 53 years) so I think my only choice at this point is to update my Mexican passport. So I go to the Mexican Consulate's web site.
It's in Spanish.
Can someone who is not a poor excuse for a Latina help a sista out?
8. My Little Honey Bunch got a new Espresso machine. I can actually work this one!
9. This lady was having so much fun at Zumba swirling her skirt around. She made my day!
10. Motsy painting a mural. I went to the web site mural.com, but again, it's in Spanish so I'm having a little trouble finding the article. Help a sista out?
Today when I was driving home, I heard a POP then a PSSSsssshhhhh. I figured I ran over a nail or something and was going to kurplunk the rest of the way up the hill. But the kurplunking sounded bad. So I pulled into the parking lot at the bottom of the hill and got out to find this.
Luckily, my Little Honey Bunch was home so he came down the hill to rescue me. Otherwise, I would've been calling Good Sam.
I proceeded to watch and photograph the cow on the hill.
Then the cow went away so I proceeded to entertain myself with findings in the parking lot bushes.
Someone was having a party. They partied so much there was still an unopened beer in the box and an unfinished one on the ground.
Hmmm. Dear Republicans. Not cool.
Please tell me that's a gum wrapper!
More partying.
My Little Honey Bunch still hard at work.
Then more cows came.
Did you know that if you yell, "Cow! Hey cow! Cows!" at cows, they ignore you?
OMG! OMG! OMG!
Isn't this supposed to freak them out? A coyote!
OK, my Little Honey Bunch got the spare on.
Guess what I ran over? A rock. A stupid rock. Blockhead. Watch out. It was on Clayton Road just outside the Clayton CVS. The worst part is, it's going to cost $326 for a new tire! How in the heck can the mere mortal afford tires?
Oh yeah, I couldn't take the falling snow any more so I changed it.
Nene
December 1, 2012
I was remembering my brother, Nene, on what should have been his 51st birthday. Here he is driving his prized '66 Chevy Impala with friend, Fernando. He was da bomb! I can't help but think that things would have turned out so different had he lived. His death caused many bumps in the road for us, but despite it all, as you can see from my header, things turned out well. He was so dang young. Nic is almost the same age as he was when he died.
I love you forever and I still miss you so much it hurts!
My name is Rosy, Chacha, Meez, Mama, Mother...take your pick.
My loves are my Honey Bunch, my children, my family, friends and Zumba. My Zumba site:
One of my favorite sites and one I'll be stealing...um...borrowing ideas from. (Hmmm. I already see my Nerd font is similar to hers. Hers is Edwardian Script and Mine is Beautiful ES.)
This blogger introduced me to the above blogger and to the blogging bug in general. Love her!
The website of a very talented artist who happens to be my son.
