November 25, 2018

As I sit here going over my photos from the last month, I just find myself being thankful for what I have. You always hear about people making their lives look good on social media and in reality, everything isn't so hunky dory (is that how you spell that?). My life truly is a gift.

Now don't get me wrong, it's not all sunshine and roses. I'm not smiling and dancing all the time. I do get angry, or sad, or feel ... insufficient (?), or helpless, or even like a failure.

But then I look at my Cinder-fucking-rella life and I move on. I try not to worry about things I have no control over and that helps. I try to help when I can and give back when I can. I hate that people are homeless or don't have money for medical treatments. I hate the state of our country. The greed and total disregard for all humans. Let me just stop now before I work myself up into a dither.

I've always felt helpless with regards to politics since I can't vote. On that note, I finally got a date with ICE for a hearing to become a citizen. December 18! So, fingers crossed that after 58 years of living here, I become a citizen and don't hear, "No citizenship for you. Deport!" (A la Soup Nazi.)

Anyway, let's get back to November happenings.

We celebrated Mia's birthday at the Guadalajara Grill on the 4th.

Sonia, Zelia and I went to her class at Redwood City on her actual birthday.

Mia's Birthday

Unfortunately on Thursday, November 8, several fires started in Solano County and Butte County. Over the following two weeks, the entire town of Paradise has been destroyed with much damage done to neighboring towns. After some rain this past week, the fire was finally 100% contained on November 25. Air quality was here in Clayton was hazardous. The entire San Francisco Bay was affected even though it's about 160 miles north of us. A very sad time indeed.

November 2018

My dear friend, Deborah, hosted one of her fabulous Friends Thanksgivings combined with her son's 23rd birthday. She had two tables inside and one very large table outside with a total of 66 place settings. With China! It was quite impressive. This photo in the header above is the outside table. Here's one in my 365's (click here). Deborah's yard has many interesting characters. Here's the Big Cock. Great story on how he came to be there.

What a great surprise to see this platter we made with Nat and Scott were on a t-ball team together. I think I made one, too? I'll have to go look for it. So cute!

November 2018

I went back and found pics. It was June of 2003. They were 5 years old!

It was so great to see everyone! Deb's dad, Deb, Dave, Shelly and Phil.

November 2018

We had a really quiet Thanksgiving at Gma and Gpa's. Just them, me and my Little Honey Bunch and Nat. And Abby. Lisa and George went to Turlock to Pat and Amanda's and Kristin and Tony hosted the Perry clan in Twain Harte. Nat and Abby striking a pose. Abby is growing! Four months old now.

November 2018

As is our tradition, we had a beef dinner with friends the day after Thanksgiving. The kids came, too, as everyone was home for the holiday. The youngest ones are all old enough to drink! So odd.
