Catching Up

March 5, 2019

I know it's already March but I totally bypassed February so here's what happened in February. First, as you can see from my cover photo, it snowed on Mt. D again. It's been freaking cold. I think I need to take Vitamin D. Hurry up, Sun, come back!

Looking through my February pictures, most of them are of my cats. I think I am the Crazy Cat Lady. So other stuff happened, though. Did I mention my Little Honey Bunch is employed again? YES! After a little over two years, he's back in the game. I sure do miss having him home, though. Even if he makes fun of me for watching Housewives. He actually started in January and was sent to training. In London. Damn it. Not enough time to figure out how I could tag along, besides, I had a very important appointment on the 13th of February which unfortunately, he could not attend. But you know, employment.

The picture of me in the header is the morning of the 13th, my last moments as a Mexican National. I was sworn in as a Naturalized American Citizen! Over a year after I sent in my application, I was called for an interview on December 18 and was told the same day by Officer Barker that he approved my application. I was thinking that because of the Government Shutdown, it would take forever to get a date for swearing in. I received a notice in January to appear at the Paramount Theater on February 13, for the swearing in ceremony. My Little Honey Bunch was in London, but my two older kids, Mot and Lina, and my sister, Boobie, came.

I was surprised that I got emotional. As you know this was more of a formality for me since I have no plan to ever set foot in Mexico again. With this administration, I was afraid that it would decide to revoke all Green Card holders. So, yeah.

It was amazing how organized they were. The MC welcomed everyone in about 7 different languages. He was incredible! There were 1,126 people from 95 countries being sworn in. China had the most at 126 followed by India, Mexico and the Philippines. When he announced the agenda and said that we would see a welcome video from 'the president', only one person clapped. Out of probably over 4,000 people. That is the one thing that's going to be a shit stain on my citizenship. My welcome letter from 'him'.

After the ceremony, my brother-in-law picked us up. Then Mot, Lina and I had breakfast at Bette's Ocean View Diner (Boobie had a dog walking gig).

First thing I did when I got home was register to vote. Heck, I might even run for office.

My Little Honey Bunch was in London on Valentine's Day, but he sent roses. We had our date on Saturday. Moresi's Chop House then the Clayton Club for a night cap and some music. A band called 19 Hand Horse was playing. Entertaining as always.

My Little Honey Bunch's Jeep Club, Cal Jeeps, put together a couples weekend. We rented a house in Fort Bragg and had a fun little adventure. I took over 200 pictures. They're in my DropBox. If you want to look through them, let me know and I'll send you a link. Here are a few pics and videos I posted on my Facebook Page.

We did a really good job on wine, vodka, beer, etc.

It was nice to hang out with friends new and old! Until next couples trip!
